CANCELLATIOn

What happens if I need to cancel an appointment?

If a cancellation is made with more than 48 hours notice of the appointment time I will make every effort to offer you an alternative appointment or you can request a full refund for the cost of the booking.

If cancellation is made less than 48 hours before the appointment time the full cost of the booking will be charged.

PATCH TESTS

Why do I need a patch test for some treatments?

All responsible therapists will perform a patch test 48 hours prior to certain treatments.

This is to avoid the unlikely but unpleasant reactions that can sometimes occur when a client is exposed to particular ingredients that are known irritants.

There are numerous differing brands of solutions each containing different ingredients and volumes so when you visit a new therapist there is always a chance you may be sensitive to the products she will be using.

You and your therapist are protected by a beauty therapy insurance policy that requires patch tests to be completed.

Allergies and sensitivities can occur at any stage of life, even when using products and solutions you have been exposed to long-term without previously suffering any reaction. Sensitivity can be greatly altered by conditions such as fluctuating hormones, medication, stress levels and long term exposure to some chemicals. For this reason, you will also be asked to repeat a patch test if you have not had the treatment for more than six months.

Patch tests are essential for both you and your therapist, it is a small inconvenience to prevent rare but sometimes serious reactions.

Treatments that require patch tests are:

  • Lash extensions

  • Lash tint

  • Lash lift (perming)

  • Brow tint

  • Spray tanning

  • Microdermabrasion

Book your patch test with peace of mind that you are in safe hands.

TREATMENTS

How can I maximise and make the most of my treatment time?

  1. Arrive on time, please note, I do not have a waiting room so please arrive no sooner than 5 minutes before your appointment time.

  2. If you are having a facial treatment it is a good idea to remove your makeup prior to treatment, particularly mascara and eyeliner.

  3. If you have lash extensions, please make sure they are thoroughly cleansed and makeup free.

  4. By reducing the time I spend cleansing, you will enjoy more massage time in a facial or extra lashing time for lash extensions.

  5. Care for your skin at home with a diligent skincare routine will further add to the treatment's efficiency, healthy skin will respond better to treatment giving you better, faster results overall. Ask me for advice in skincare. It's my favourite subject!

  6. Please ensure you complete any required digital forms prior to arriving. These will be sent to you when you make an appointment.

SPRAY TANS

What do I need to do to prepare for my spray tan?

One Week Before

Exfoliate your face and body once or twice during the week before your treatment concentrating on drier areas such as elbows and knees etc.

Apply a hydrating moisturiser to face and body daily.

24 Hours Before

Avoid any form of hair removal in the 24 hours leading up to your treatment.

On The Day

Shower as close to your treatment as possible and do not apply any products such as moisturiser, deodorant, makeup etc. A  light facial moisturiser is okay.

Wear flip flops and loose dark clothing and consider the option of going home braless or wearing a strapless bra.

Please arrive promptly for your treatment and if it looks like rain, bring a brolly!

After Your Spray Tan

You will need to stay clear of moisture for 8 hours post treatment to allow the tan to develop so be mindful of this when planning post-tan activities.

After 8 hours you can shower and enjoy your gorgeous glow!

I stock Sienna X products that enhance and prolong your tan. Using tan aftercare, avoiding oil based products and hydrating your skin daily will give you a beautiful, long lasting colour.

MICRODERMABRASION FACIALS

What happens after a Microdermabrasion facial?

Your first microdermabrasion facial will usually leave your skin with a mild feeling of tightness, occasionally with a very slight pinkness due to the massage effects of the treatment. These effects will subside within 24 hours of the treatment and will reduce in occurance as you progress through a course of treatment and your skin acclimatises to the treatment. Sometimes microdermabrasion can trigger a healing reaction known as purging in problematic skin, such as an acne breakout in acne sufferers or pimples for those with congested skin. This is a sign that the treatment is taking effect. It's the result of the congestion moving out of the skin faster due to the treatment's stimulation. This temporary reaction will subside quickly and great improvements will be seen over subsequent treatments.

Am I suitable for Microdermabrasion?

Those who are pregnant or who have rosacea should not have microdermabrasion treatments.
THE FACE THE FACE BODY COMPANY offers an in depth consultation which provides the opportunity to see the machine and a mini demonstration. We will also discuss your skin concerns and current routine to determine the best course of treatment to achieve your expectations.

LASHES

what should i do before lash extensions or a lash lift?

LASH LIFT

To prep for a lash lift:

  • Please arrive with clean lashes.

  • Avoid using waterproof mascara or eyeliner for at least three days prior to treatment. (Waterproof mascara is stubborn to remove entirely and can form a barrier on the lashes that can reduce the effectiveness of the lash lift.)

  • Be prepared to lay still with your eyes closed for the duration of the treatment (1 hour), most clients take this oportunity to enjoy a well deserved nap.

LASH EXTENSIONS

  • It is vital you thoroughly and regularly cleanse your lashes, (natural or extensions), this includes prior to arriving for a lash extension appointment. Time spent during your appointment cleansing away eye makeup or deep cleansing dirty lashes will reduce the time dedicated to completing your lashes so you may not gain a complete full set or adequate infill due to the resulting lack of time.

  • Dependent on which lash look you have opted for, the treatment will require you to have your eyes closed between 1 to 2.5 hours. Lash extensions are not suitable for sensitive, irritated or puffy eyes, or if your eyes are prone to watering or twitching when closed or laying down.

AFTER TREATMENT

  • Avoid sleeping on your lashes, I stock 3D specialist sleep masks to protect your lashes while you sleep.

  • I also stock Lash Extension Aftercare kits. Cleanse and gently comb through your lashes twice daily with a suitable lash cleansing brush, lash shampoo and spoolie brush such as those found in my kits.

  • Do not be tempted to pick, pull or remove your lash extensions. This will result in damage to our natural lash growth which could become permanent if consistently done.

  • Always have your lashes professionally removed.
